External graphics cards seem to be gaining popularity and we have more and more external case options available, such as the recent Minisforum MGA1.
This new eGPU box has a dedicated AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT card inside, with it we will be able to run any current game at 1080p or higher at good quality. A graphics solution that we have already seen in other eGPU products such as the GPD G1 for example. Along with the case that houses the graphics card we have a 240 W GaN adapter of compact size enough for its power supply.
A very interesting solution if we have a mini PC with OCulink port that allows us to take full advantage of this port. You can see more details about eGPU performance in our article on the subject.
Minisforum MGA1
As we can see the Minisforum MGA1 case has a Gaming design with multiple ventilation slots. Inside we have the AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT with RDNA 3 architecture, which has 8 GB GDDR6 18000 MHz 128 bits, core speed up to 2810 MHz, PCI-E 4.0×4 communication, two DP 2.0 ports and one HDMI 2.1a. In addition, it has an OCulink 1.4i interface that gives us an output of 64 Gbps, superior to USB4.
Other ports and features
We also have three USB 3.2 ports that allow you to connect peripherals directly and we also have a USB-C 3.1 port that gives us a 65 W PD output to connect a laptop for example. Although it is better to connect any peripheral directly to our PC using their own USB as this will not interfere with the bandwidth of the OCulink output.
We have a three-pin DC connector for the included GaN 240 W power supply and a power button. This card can be used in any system that supports the connection protocol, lately we have quite a few mini PC offers with OCulink.
Price and availability
- The Minisforum MGA1 can be purchased from the MINISFORUM store starting at $559, and will soon be available at retailers such as Amazon.
