Since the IFA fair last year we had no news of the Android TV-Box MINIX NEO X39 but today we can already find it for sale in the official MINIX store on Aliexpress. A device that has the classic MINIX box design, has a USB Type-C port that allows 4K video output at 60fps and also has HDMI 2.0 video output. This TV-Box is intended for digital signage projects thanks to its dual video output and specific firmware options for that area.
At a specification level, the MINIX NEO X39 has in its central core the Rockchip RK3399 Hexa Core SoC that has a cluster of 2 ARM Cortex-A72 processors capable of reaching 2.0 GHz and another cluster with 4 ARM Cortex processors- A53. It has a powerful Mali-T860 MP4 GPU that has support for decoding H.264 / H.265 and VP9 codecs up to 4K@60fps video resolutions. It also includes 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 32 GB of eMMc 5.1 storage memory that we can expand by adding a memory card in the integrated microSD card reader.
Connectivity and other features
At the level of wireless connectivity, this Android TV-Box has WiFi MiMo 2×2 AC Dual Band with external antenna and Bluetooth 4.1. Within the connectivity section we find three USB 2.0 connectors, a USB 3.0, a USB Type-C, a Gigabit network connector, SPDIF output for digital audio and an HDMI 2.0a port for video on the perimeter of the plastic box.
The operating system is Android 7.1.2 and includes a basic infrared remote control.
