NVIDIA Shield TV Pro with the new Tegra X1+ SoC now on sale

We already have the new NVIDIA Shield TV Pro on sale on Amazon.com that updates this well-known device with a more powerful SoC in addition to new features such as Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision. This updated Shield includes the new Tegra X1+ SoC that is 25% more powerful, possibly due to a reduction in its manufacturing process that would go from 20nm to 14nm. Soon we will have our usual detailed review about it and see how far it goes.

SoC, RAM and storage

The NVIDIA Shield TV Pro follows the lines of the already known format of the NVIDIA Shield TV 2017, at the level of specifications we continue with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage memory. As we see it is almost identical to the previous model, it only differs in the new and more powerful Tegra X1+ SoC that integrates the same Maxwell GPU and that as a main difference we see that it has native Dolby Vision HDR support and Dolby Atmos audio. A SoC that remains undoubtedly the most powerful in the market at the moment and without any rival in its sector.

Other features

NVIDIA Shield TV Pro has a new chip Wifi ac 2×2 MIMO and Bluetooth 5.0 in the wireless connectivity section. The included connectors are identical to the previous model, we have two USB 3.0 ports, a Gigabit Ethernet connector and HDMI 2.1 video output. The installed system is Android TV 9 Pie updated to the latest and with all the necessary adjustments to get the maximum performance in all its fields.

The new remote has undergone a radical change, the annoying touch volume control has been eliminated, we now have a Netflix direct access button and the battery is exchanged for two AAA batteries that will surely last for years. The Bluetooth controller also includes a microphone for Google Assistant, retro lighting that is activated with motion detection, IR transmitter and a system to find it in case we have lost it between the sofa cushions.
