Powkiddy GKD mini, a super compact retro console with great design

New retro console that draws attention for its compact design, this is the Powkiddy GKD mini a small machine with somewhat basic specifications but with a good box design, where there are even rear triggers.

This retro console has a size of 111 x 86 x 719 mm with a design dominated by rounded shapes and multiple housing colors to choose from. As usual, it comes standard with several emulators such as PS1, CPS1, CPS2, FBA, NEOGEO, GBA, GBC, GB, SFC, FC…

An interesting emulation machine, easily portable if we like something compact and with good size to be portable. The battery included is also an appealing factor in its hardware, since according to the manufacturer, it has an autonomy that can reach up to more than 6 hours.

The Powkiddy GKD mini retro console includes a 3.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 320 × 240 pixels. To run the emulated titles it has a MIPS32 SoC that reaches up to 1.5 GHz, of which we do not know its exact specifications. The board includes 128 MB of LPDDR2 RAM and 32 GB of storage on a micro SD included where we have the open source operating system. We also have another micro SD card reader for storage where we can insert cards up to 512 GB.

For control we have a directional pad, four front buttons, four rear micro triggers, Start and Select buttons, plus two extra buttons for brightness control and other functions. Regarding connectivity we have two micro SD card readers, 3.5 mm audio jack and a USB Type-C charging port for its internal 2500 mAh battery but also serves to connect an external module with Wifi / Bluetooth. The audio section is discreet with a single 1 W speaker, the usual in these small systems.
