We already have for sale a new retro micro console with the name of PowKiddy Q36. A small machine with simple specifications that undoubtedly stands out for its tiny design that makes it certainly transportable.
The small PowKiddy Q36 has a size of only 94 x 43 x 16 mm. It reminds us of the classic Game Boy Advance, and has a very similar set of controls accompanied by a 1.54″ screen in 4:3 format. As usual, it comes standard with several emulators such as PS1, CPS1, CPS2, FBA, NEOGEO, GBA, GBC, GB, SFC, FC…
An interesting emulation machine if we are looking for something easily portable and with a robust design. The included battery allows us to play up to 5 hours depending on the game, a figure that is not bad for a machine of this size.
PowKiddy Q36 Specifications
The PowKiddy Q36 retro console includes a 1.54″ OCA IPS display with a resolution of 240 × 240 pixels. To run the emulated titles it has an Allwinner V3s SoC with a Cortex-A7 core up to 1.2 GHz. A hardware sufficient to move 16bit consoles and even PS1.
We do not know the exact amount of RAM that mounts, but it will be quite fair. We have a microSD of 32 GB of storage in a micro SD, expandable up to 256 GB. As operating system we have Open linux or Open dingux, a system that can get more performance than Android in this limited hardware.
In terms of control, it has a directional pad, four front buttons, two rear triggers, Start and Select buttons, as well as a power button. In terms of connectivity we have a micro SD card reader and a USB Type-C charging port for its 1000 mAh internal battery. The audio section is discreet with a single small 1 W speaker.
