Qualcomm also minimally cares for its offer for the low-end of smartphones, although it is not its strong sector precisely and has just presented its new SoC for this segment of the market called Snapdragon 215, a chip that substantially improves the previous Snapdragon 212. The improvements presented in this platform compared to the previous one are very large and Qualcomm figures them at 50% at the CPU level and 38% at the GPU level since the nucleus jump is from ARM Cortex-A7 to ARM Cortex-A53. In addition, this new low-end SoC includes support for fast charge Qualcomm Quick Charge and dual cameras.
The Snapdragon 215 is manufactured in 28nm and includes 4 ARM Cortex-A53 processors capable of reaching a maximum speed of 1.3Ghz and an Adreno 308 GPU with support for screens of up to 1560 x 720 pixels. It supports LPDDR3 RAM, eMMc 4.5 storage and includes Quick Charge 1.0. It also includes WiFi 1×1, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC and incorporates a 4G-LTE modem with support for Dual SIM Qualcomm Snapdragon X5 LTE that reaches speeds of 150Mbps in download and 50Mbps in uploads. At the level of photography is also minimally worked this chip since we found a Double ISP with support for dual cameras and for audio we have a digital signal processor (DSP) Hexagon.
- The Snapdragon 215 will hit the market in the second half of this 2019 in smartphones of the cheapest range.
