Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 a strong bet for the mid-range with 5G

Qualcomm has just presented its new Chip for mid-range Smartphones with the name Snapdragon 690. A new SoC that stands out for including a 5G modem and that according to the brand surpasses the Snapdragon 675 by 20% in CPU and 60% in GPU, if these data is true the jump in performance is significant.

A very balanced midrange that pays great attention to photography as well, as it is capable of handling up to 192MP sensors with support for video capture up to 4K HDR resolutions. The improvements are extensive, since this Snapdragon adopts numerous Qualcomm’s proprietary technologies and if you are curious it is best to consult its data sheet.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 is an Octa Core manufactured in 8nm that includes 2 Kyro 560 processor clusters that reach 2GHz, an Adreno 619L GPU and a Hexagon 692 artificial intelligence chip that deals with many of its sensor control functions, saving power and audio enhancements.

As for memory, we have support for FullHD+ screens with up to 120 Mhz, 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, NFC and a 5G Snapdragon X51 modem capable of reaching 2.5 Gbps in download and 1.2 Gbps in upload. The battery will have fast charge of up to 18W Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ and for cameras we will have compatibility with solo sensors of up to nothing 192 mega pixels and in 32MP + 16MP dual mode.

Availability

  • The Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 will hit the market in the second half of this 2020 integrated in mid-range smartphones from brands such as Xiaomi, TCL, LG or Motorola.
