Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 introduced for mid-range 5G Smartphones

Qualcomm does not stop presenting news and today we have the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, the new Qualcomm 7 Series SoC.

An SoC aimed at mid-range smartphones that includes significant improvements over the previous generation with CPUs that Qualcomm quantifies as 20% faster. Improvements that are also transferred to the GPU, 40% faster and in Artificial Intelligence, where its micro NPU doubles its power compared to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2.

The manufacturing process of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 is in 4nm so the energy efficiency will be very high and that in general Qualcomm advertises as 12% higher than its predecessor.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 SoC (SM7635) is an Octa Core manufactured on 4nm. Inside we have three clusters, the most powerful with 1 ARM Cortex-A720 that reaches 2.5 Ghz, a second with 3 ARM Cortex-A720 processors that reach 2.4 Ghz and the most efficient with 4 ARM Cortex-A510 processors that reach 1.8 Ghz. The GPU is an Adreno, the exact model is unknown, although Qualcomm advertises that it is 40% more powerful than in the previous model, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 and 15% more energy efficient

For RAM we have support for LPDDR5 up to 6,400 MHz and LPDDR4X at 4,266 MHz, while storage reaches UFS 3.1 type. We also have Wifi 6E connectivity, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, 5G modem (NSA/SA), USB 3.1 and Qualcomm Quick Charge 4 fast charging. On this chip the camera controller is an ISP Spectra that allows the management of a photo camera up to 200 MP, while the video reaches 4K@30fps maximum.

Availability

  • The Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 will reach the market in the coming months from manufacturers such as Realme, Samsung and Xiaomi in their mid-range 5G handsets.
