The new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 has just been presented, the replacement for the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, which is substantially improved in all aspects.
A new Qualcomm SoC that gives a very significant leap, as it improves the previous generation by 31% in CPU, 49% in graphics power and 44% in iA performance. A brutal step forward and that leaves this SoC very close to the Snapdragon 8 Elite and that will surely be seen in many upper mid-range smartphones in the coming months.
An improvement undoubtedly brought about by the relevant improvements and consequent good sales that Mediatek is achieving this year in all its mid-range and high-end SoCs.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 specifications
This new Octa Core is manufactured by TSCM in 4nm. This chip reaches up to 3.2 GHz in its ARM Cortex-X1 core, has three other ARM Cortex-A720 cores that reach up to 3.0 Ghz, 2 ARM Cortex-A720 that reach stay at 2.0 Ghz. In the graphics section we have an Adreno GPU of which we have no data, but which uses the Adreno Frame Motion Engine 2.0 to generate extra frames with the help of artificial intelligence. We also have a Hexagon NPU for artificial intelligence work
An SoC that will have support for displays up to WQHD 144Hz resolution, LPDDR5X RAM up to a maximum frequency of 4,800 MHz and high-speed UFS 4.0 storage. It will also support Wifi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, GPS and for connectivity it will be able to use up to one USB 3.1 Gen2 port. The Spectra ISP now supports up to a 320 MP camera or 3 36 MP sensors with support for 4K@60 fps HDR10 and Dolby Vision video.
Availability
- The new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 is expected to hit the market later this month, most likely bundled with the iQOO Z10 Turbo.
