Yesterday the Realme brand, a subsidiary of Oppo, presented its first Smart TVs with Android TV OS, two products for the Low-cost sector with all that that implies. For now we count as a variant of 32″ and another of 43″ and are only be purchased in the Indian market with tuners totally incompatible with the rest of the world.
The operating system is Android TV 9 with official support for Chromecast, Netflix, Prime Video, HBO and YouTube, we can also load apps like KODI or those intended for IPTV, in addition to any other App available in the Google store. Unfortunately, as we will see at the specification level, they are quite limited and can give us a poor experience when using them.
Specifications
The new Realme Smart TVs are available in two formats, a small one with 32″ and HD resolution and another larger with 43″ and FHD resolution, we will surely have Edge led lighting. They do not have HDR technology but it is indicated that they include Chroma Boost that seems to want to imitate this effect reaching 400 nits. The frames as we see are quite narrow but not invisible as are promoted in the advertising.
They have a low consumption Mediatek Quad Core SoC with ARM Cortex-A53 processors and an ARM Mali-470 MP3 GPU, a low-end processor that is also burdened by integrating only 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. These figures are completely insufficient to have a positive experience in the short term if we demand a minimum.
These Smart TVs include 3 HDMI 2.0 connectors, two USB 2.0 ports, a 10/100 network connector, digital audio output and AV jack. We also have only Wifi b/g/n 2.4GHz, Bluetooth 5.0 and a TV tuner only valid for India. The integrated audio system has 4x 24W speakers with Dolby certification. The 32″ model has a consumption of 45W and the 43″ reaches 74W and includes a remote control with voice functions with which we can use the Google Assistant voice assistant.
