The new REDMAGIC Astra 2 gaming tablet has been officially launched in China; this will be the international name for the REDMAGIC 5 Pro, whose specifications were revealed a few weeks ago.
This tablet, manufactured by ZTE, offers high-end gaming performance on Android. It’s powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, which features an efficient 3-nm process a more powerful solution that outperforms its Mediatek counterparts. As usual, it features a metal chassis with very slim bezels relative to the screen. To keep temperatures in check, it includes a liquid cooling system, which will allow users to get the most out of the processor at all times.
It runs Android 16 with the REDMAGIC OS 11.5 overlay, customized for gaming. A standout design feature is the RGB LED lighting a must-have for cool gaming devices.
REDMAGIC ASTRA 2 Specifications
The SoC in this REDMAGIC ASTRA 2 (also known as the REDMAGIC 5 Pro ) is the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Octa-Core , manufactured on a 3nm process. Inside this chip, we find a 2-cluster configuration: the fastest cluster features 2 Prime Cores clocked at up to 4.6 GHz, and a second cluster with 6 Performance Cores clocked at up to 3.6 GHz. The GPU is an Adreno 830, capable of running any demanding game.
RAM options include 12/16/24 LPDDR5T, and storage options are 256/512 GB or 1 TB with high-speed UFS 4.1 Pro support. There is no microSD card slot or 5G modem option with a micro-SIM.
Display and Other Features
The front display is a 9-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2400 × 1504 pixels and a configurable refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. As for the camera, there’s a 13 MP sensor on the back and a 9 MP camera on the front.
The battery has a capacity of 8,300 mAh with 80 W fast charging. It includes light, gravity, Hall effect, and color temperature sensors, as well as a gyroscope, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4. For connectivity, there is a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port with video output. As for audio, the device features two speakers and two microphones.
