RockTek GB1 a curious Box certified by Google and Netflix with SoC Realtek 1315C

Today we found in AliExpress a new certified Box called RockTek GB1 that this time surprises us by the inclusion of an unknown SoC as is the Realtek 1315C.

A chip that until now we had not heard of, but that seems a good option for power thanks to its four ARM Cortex-A55 cores and its ARM Mali-G57 GPU, much more optimized than the one included in the Amlogic S905X4, the Mali-G31. In addition, this Box comes with the Google TV 12 usage environment with integrated Chromecast, support for Google Assistant and is suitable for use of paid streaming as Netflix 4K thanks to its certificates.

Also, we will highlight the support in its Realtek 1315C SoC for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos video and audio technologies, so this seems a good choice as a media player. Additionally, note its connectors, practically null, since we only have a USB-C port for power and an HDMI video output, a pity not to put even a single USB.

RockTek GB1 Specifications

This Android Box includes as engine the Realtek 1315C processor, a Quad Core manufactured in 12 nm. A chip with low power consumption ARM Cortex-A55 processors that theoretically reach 2 GHz speed and integrates a Mali-G57 GPU. The VPU includes 4K@60fps, AV1, VP-2, AVS2, HDR, HDR10, Dolby Vision and HLG support.

There is only one version available with 2 GB of DDR4 RAM soldered on board and 16 GB of eMMc 5.1 storage that can only be expanded through a HUB connected to the USB-C port.

Other notable features

On the wireless connectivity front, this new Android Box features dual-band Wi-Fi aC and Bluetooth 5.0. The included connectors are only a USB-C port and an HDMI 2.1 video output that can output video up to 8K resolutions.

As usual, HDMI cable, power supply and a basic IR remote control are included to be able to use this Box from the first moment, although we have the option of acquiring it with another remote control via Bluetooth, paying an extra.
