Samsung has officially unveiled its new Galaxy SmartTag 3, a device that was previously exclusive to Android and is now available for iOS.
As we can see, this is a major redesign that moves away from the iconic “bottle opener”-style format with an integrated carabiner hole to adopt a design with rounded edges that is 35% smaller and 33% lighter. This change in form factor now requires the use of silicone cases or additional clips (sold separately) to attach it to keychains or bags. In return, it allows you to stow it much more discreetly in wallets or the nooks and crannies of luggage while maintaining its water and dust resistance thanks to its IP67 certification.

The biggest improvement in this third generation lies in the software: for the first time in the product line, the tracker offers cross-platform compatibility (iOS and Android), allowing iPhone users to manage their tags directly through the web and the SmartThings Find iOS app (requires iOS 17 or later).
In terms of tracking, it introduces Compass View technology powered by Bluetooth 6.0 (Channel Sounding) and ultra-wideband (UWB) connectivity, providing directional and distance guidance with extreme precision up to a range of 60 meters in line of sight.
In terms of power, the device improves the efficiency of its replaceable button cell battery (CR2032), achieving an official battery life of up to 550 days under standard use and extending to 790 days in power-saving mode. The tag retains key features such as the ability to program home automation routines via its configurable physical button and adds new alerts such as Place Notification (alerts when entering or exiting designated zones) and motion detection.
