Sapphire has presented its new motherboard with AMD Ryzen Embedded V1000 APU, a processor that we knew a while ago but we had not seen in any real solution. This APU’s have a hardware similar to the new Ryzen desktop APU’s, which we saw recently in a review, although in this case are processors designed to be soldered to the motherboard, this solutions focused for digital signage devices or industrial solutions but could work perfectly for HTPC or mini desktop PC.
In these Sapphire motherboards with integrated AMD Ryzen Embedded V1000 APU can be powered by a 19V connector and a 12V connector with four pins, depending on the model of APU have a consumption between 35 / 54W and 12 / 25W acording on the power deployed, has two DDR4 slots SO-DIMM, two slots M.2 one for Wifi and another with PCI-Express 3.0 x4 support for high performance units. We also have four DisplayPort ports, two Realtek RTL8111G Ethernet ports, Realtek ALC262 sound chip for their audio jack, RS232 / 422/485 internal connector and a single SATA 3 port.
The new Sapphire motherboards surprise us with a 5×5 Mini-STX board format that Intel promoted for mini PCs as we saw in the ASRock Desk Mini 110, a format with very contained dimensions that allows certainly nice boxes designs. Undoubtedly very interesting this product although for now it seems more focused on a professional use than domestic.
