It seems that little by little the Windows console that promised desktop games in our hands back in 2014 with the name of SteamBoy is coming true. After four years and with the name changed to Smach Z this console has had to wait for the new generation of AMD Ryzen V1000 SoC’s to come true. Undoubtedly a very ambitious project that has had to wait until the hardware evolving to meet the expectations it promised to the users who financed some years ago.
In the Smach Z console we have the new AMD Ryzen V1605B SoC with four cores and eight threads, a speed between 2 and 3.6 GHz, that integrates a Vega GPU with 8 CU and maximum speed of 1.1 Ghz, surprisingly mounts two SODIMM DDR4 slots up to 2400 MHz , the average consumption of this unit is about 15 W and as we see it has active ventilation. Inside the console we find a battery of 46 Whr that according to its responsible will give us a useful life of 5 hours.
The price of the Smach Z has also been modified over the years, right now the simplest model with 4 GB of RAM has a price on the web Indiegogo of about $490 and the PRO model with 8 GB of RAM reaches $690, if takes a couple of years more we do not know how far it can go. It seems that finally this console will come to see the light and soon the users who financed it will see something more than a concept, we will see what product finally reaches our hands.
