Today we came across a new NAS PC in stores called SZBOX M1 MINI Plus, a device that stands out for its front bay to access its 4 front NVMe.
This peculiar PC surprises us with a removable front that gives us access to four NVMe PCIe 3.0 storage units, which in total allow us to store up to 20 TB. A system that can function as a multimedia center directly by connecting it to a monitor or living room TV thanks to its two 4K HDR video outputs. As an operating system we can use Windows or a Linux distribution , OpenWRT to use it as a soft router, taking advantage of its 4 Ethernet 2.5G ports.
A computer with two versions, one with the efficient Intel N100 and another with more power using the AMD Core i3-N305. Definitely an interesting option for those who want to set up a flexible server.
SZBOX M1 MINI Plus Specifications
Inside this NAS or PC we find a version with the popular Intel N100 and a more powerful one with an Intel Core i3-N305, both manufactured in 10 nm. The latter is a powerful Octa Core chip with eight threads and a speed of up to 3.8 GHz. The GPU is an Intel Core UHD GPU with 32EU that has a maximum speed of 1.25 GHz.
This NAS mounts up to 5 PCIe 3.0×1 drives, we have one internal 2280 slot for the system disk and 4 external bays for 2280 and 22110 disks. The maximum external capacity we can store is up to 20TB adding all drives together. The RAM memory is SODIMM DDR5 4800 MHz up to 32 GB in the i3 model, as system storage we have a M.2 NVMe 2280 disk available.
Other notable features
The SZBOX M1 MINI Plus includes in the rear area four 2.5 GB Ethernet ports for use as a router and an undefined Wifi and Bluetooth adapter. We also have on the back of the box two USB 2.0 connectors, DC connector and HDMI 2.0 and DP 1.4 video outputs with 4K@60fps HDR support. On the front we have an SD card reader, USB-A 3.2 port, two USB-A 3.0 and the power button.
Windows 11 is installed if we do not buy the barebone version, although it is possible to install operating systems such as Linux, OpenWRT, iKuai or LEDE if we want to focus on server. A computer that can also be used to play multimedia, IPTV, KODI or run emulators.
