From Spain is developing the TableX project, a tablet with a modified version of Ubuntu pre-installed to take advantage of all its hardware and compatible with the repositories of this free operating system. The tablets with Linux are an absolute minority in the market so surely this is well received for the faithful to this OS and all its software repository. The project is still in developing phase although can launch a funding campaign via the Kickstarter portal, we still do not know the date of departure but the purchase price for the TabletX will be $100 (€89).
SoC, RAM and storage
TableX seems to include the SoC Quad Core Allwinner A33 that integrates ARM Cortex-A7 processors and a Mali-400mp2 GPU, a SoC launched in 2014 quite surpassed at present by chips of its same range based on ARM Cortex-A53 processors. The RAM memory is not specified and the storage is 8GB although we can use the included microSD card reader.
Screen and other specifications
The screen will be a 7-inch and will include wifi b/g/n, a pair of webcams and a 3500 mAh battery. At connectivity level we will have the classic microUSB port and a 3.5mm audio jack.
Price and availability
- The TableX with Linux can be purchased soon through the crowdfunding portal Kickstarter for only $100 (€89).
