Today we found in Chinese stores a new Android Box called TANIX TX5 PLUS that carries the recent but predictably popular Quad Core SoC Amlogic S905X5M.
A processor manufactured in 6 nm, faster than its predecessor, the Amlogic S905X4, which carries a new Mali-G310 V2 GPU and of which you can read our full review. The rest of the specifications of this Android Box do not stand out too much, we will only point out the inclusion of a Gigabit network port in case we want to connect it to the network via cable.
The operating system is Android 14 and includes Ai-SR algorithms that improve the quality of low resolution video playback. This Box does not include DRM certificates for Netflix and similar as in the new Xiaomi TV Box S 3rd Gen that uses the same processor, but we can use it without problems to watch video up to 4K resolution, emulators, games and many more things.
TANIX TX5 PLUS Specifications
Inside this new Android TV-Box we find the Quad Core Amlogic S905X5M processor, manufactured in 6 nm. It integrates ARM Cortex-A55 processors with a power of 30K DMIPS and a new ARM Mali-G310 V2 iGPU. We also have support for native decoding of H.265, AVS2, VP9 and AV1 codecs with resolutions up to 4K@75fps 10 bit, compatible with HLG and HDR10 technologies.
We have different versions of this Box with 2/4 GB of DDR4 RAM and 16/32/64 GB of eMMc storage. If we want to expand the memory, we can use the included microSD card reader.
Other notable specifications
In the wireless connectivity section, the TANIX TX5 PLUS integrates Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. The connectors included in the plastic box are two USB 2.0 ports, gigabit network port, analogue output for audio/video and an HDMI 2.0 output with support for up to 4K@60 FPS resolutions.
Power supply, HDMI cable to connect it to the TV and a remote control with microphone and shortcut keys to different streaming apps are included.
