TCL 505 S, new low-cost range with 90Hz display and 50MP camera

We have already presented the new cheap terminal range TCL 505 S. Basically a version of the TCL 505 that doubles its storage to 256 GB and has the ability to virtually increase the RAM up to 14 GB.

As a good sub-100 entry range we have as engine a low-end processor that incorporates 4G-Lte connectivity, the Mediatek Helio G36 that uses old ARM Cortex-A53 cores. Despite its price, it has some interesting features such as its screen with a refresh rate of 90 Hz, a 50 MP camera or the inclusion of NFC that allows us to make payments with the mobile, something basic nowadays.

The back presents a rather unique design and as operating system we have in this TCL with a modern Android 14 with the TCL UI layer.

Specifications of the TCL 505 S

In the TCL 505S as engine we have a Mediatek Helio G36 processor manufactured in 12nm. This chip is an Octa Core with ARM Cortex-A53 processors in two clusters, one that reaches 2.2 Ghz and another that reaches 1.6 Ghz. Finally, the GPU is a modest PowerVR GE8320 with a top speed of 680 Mhz.

As for RAM we have versions with 4 GB LPDDR4X on board and for storage we have 256 GB eMMC 5.1, with the option to expand it up to 512 GB with the micro SD card reader shared with the SIM slot.

Display and other features

The screen of this terminal is a 6.75-inch IPS NXTVISION with a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels, 1500:1 contrast, maximum brightness of 400 nits and a refresh rate that reaches 90 Hz. As for cameras we have a 5 MP front with microphone and on the back we find the main 50 MP and another auxiliary lens for depth of 2 MP.

We also have Wifi aC and Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless connectivity, NFC, GPS 4 in 1 and a 4G-Lte modem with Dual SIM. The battery has a capacity of 5010 mAh that includes 10 W charging and for connectivity we have USB-C 2.0 connector and a 3.5 mm audio jack. Finally, the power button has an integrated fingerprint reader and includes a pair of stereo speakers.
