The Chinese multinational TCL continues to release smartphones, and today the mid-range TCL P80 Ultra is available on Amazon. It features an NXTPAPER display with the brand’s proprietary technology that reduces glare, enhances contrast, and delivers more vibrant colors. It also includes the NXTPAPER Key shortcut button, which transforms the display into a small e-reader. Otherwise, it boasts solid specs overall, including a good selection of cameras.
Powering its rugged IP68-rated body is the mid-range Mediatek Dimensity 7400 Elite octa-core processor, which scores around 950,000 points on Antutu v11. It has 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and for storage, there’s 256/512 GB, which can be expanded via a microSD card.
The display panel used in this TCL device is a 6.83-inch AMOLED NXTPAPER with a resolution of 2,772 x 1,280 pixels, a brightness of up to 3,200 nits, and a 120 Hz refresh rate.
For selfies, there’s a 32 MP front-facing camera that complements the 50 MP OIS main rear sensor, which is accompanied by a 50 MP lens with 3x OIS zoom and an 8 MP wide-angle lens. It also features an in-display fingerprint reader, 4G-LTE/5G connectivity with Dual SIM, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and GPS. As for connectivity ports, this new device includes a USB Type-C 2.0 OTG port for data transfer and charging. The battery has a capacity of 5,800 mAh with fast charging up to 45 W, and for audio, it features DTS-compatible stereo speakers.
The operating system is Android 16 with the TCL UI overlay, which promises four OS updates up to Android 20.
