If you thought you had seen everything in Smart TV design and that nothing could surprise you, here is the TCL XESS to show you that you are totally wrong. This new TCL Smart TV is a true design exercise that threatens to take the external design of these smart devices to a new level with a rotating screen that can be turned upright. Sony and Samsung also have some similar design, although the truth is that this new format does not seem to have much experience since the applications and content available are very limited.
The TCL XESS is inspired by the design of some Smartphones with a screen with minimal frames and rounded edges that give it a somewhat retro look. We also have details such as a pop-up camera in the upper frame, very seen on smartphones and a mini LCD screen in the central part of its support, where it seems that we can display different information such as weather and time. It is in this bracket that the sound bar signed by Onkyo is integrated, which can be used independently and which includes a pair of 20w speakers each with Dolby Atmos support.
We don’t have all the features of the TCL XESS but it includes a 55-inch screen with 4K resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels, external brightness sensor and really fine edges. This TV is equipped with HDMI 2.1 and a Chinese Smart TV system with artificial intelligence that surely owns this brand.
Price and availability
- At the moment we have no price or launch date for the TCL XESS worldwide, if it ever arrives, but in China it will be sold for around $ 850 in exchange.
