Today we have a premiere, after being announced almost 6 months ago it seems that we start to see on the distributors the new AMlogic S805x SoC motorizing a variant of the TV-Box KI Plus known to include TDT, satellite and cable tuners, a product focused to the low cost market.
S805X is a Chip very similar to the S905 family of Amlogic, a Quad Core with ARM Cortex-A53 processors and a Mali-450mp5 GPU. The differences come at the clock level since in the S805X the maximum speed of the ARM processors is 1.2 GHz while in the S905 range it reaches 1.5 GHz. At the video level the maximum output resolution is limited to 1080p although the native encoding of H.265, H.264 and also VP9, a very interesting codecs for recording video using the tuners.
This new low-cost version of the KI Plus will also include Amlogic S805X SoC with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of eMMc storage memory and WiFi b / g / n. In terms of connectivity we find the usual in this series of TV-Boxes, four USB 2.0 ports, microSD card reader, CVBS analog audio and video output, 10/100 Ethernet connector, HDMI 2.0 port and SPDIF optical audio output. We also find the corresponding entries for the DVB-T2 and DVB-S2 tuners we suppose with cccam support among others, although it remains to be seen if it will have Widevine L1 support to be able to watch Netflix HD.
At the moment we do not have in the stores this new version of the KI PLUS with SoC S805X although it will surely arrive as soon as the Chinese New Year holidays are over.
