The wait has been long but it seems that soon we will have in the market the new Intel NUCs of 8th generation, models based on their Coffe Lake processors that bring us interesting improvements and a significant increase in the number of cores available in their processors. This products can be on sale soon by the information that has leaked in a document with more than 74 pages describing all the details.
The new Intel NUC Coffe Lake models have processors that integrate the powerful Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 GT3e GPU that has 128 MB of dedicated eDRAM, can reach up to 1GHz of speed, has 384 Shading Units, 48 TMUs and 6 ROPs. We also have a Thunderbolt 3 connector that allows us to connect devices up to 10 Gbit/s and also allows DisplayPort video output. In addition, in all these models we have by default the new Intel CNVi 9560 wireless network module with WiFi ac up to 1.73 Gbps and Bluetooth 5.0. We have HDMI 2.0a video output with resolution up to 4K@60fps that must support HDR, we can mount two SODIMM DDR4-2400 up to 32GB.
As we see these NUC have a very continuous design, in the versions with Core i5 and Core i3 processors are also available in low profile barebones, which do not allow mounting a unit of 2.5 “, these have a measurement of 4.5 x 4.4 x 1.2 inches (115 x 111 x 31 mm), the high profile barebone measures 4.5 x 4.4 x 2 inches (115 x 111 x 51 mm). In these models we have an M.2 connector for SATA 3 or NVMe discs, we have versions with pre-mounted disc Optane to accelerate the integrated mechanical disk 1TB, these have Windows 10 Home installed. All models are actively cooled, come with external power source, as always includes VESA support.
