The second generation AMD Ryzen are already in stores, after the good reception of the first generation of products with Zen core technology the new Zen+ cores offer us more adjusted prices and higher performance. A few days ago we saw in detail the new AMD Ryzen APU with integrated Vega GPU, curiously these products were the first to release these new Zen+ processors with all the improvements in energy efficiency and speed of their caches.
The new AMD Ryzen 2000 series processors are manufactured in 12nm following the process of the previous products, the improvements are focused on the inclusion of new technologies, refining the first versions. The Precision Boost 2 system that as we saw in the new Ryzen APUs adjust the energy control in detail per core, we also have Extended Frequency Rate 2 (XFR 2) that pushes the processors in turbo mode. These new techniques imply that we have a very tight consumption in each scenario reducing to the maximum the heat generated and leaving us more room to squeeze the processor.
All the new models of AMD Ryzen 2000 series have a substantial increase in frequencies with the same consumption, no doubt a competition for price rather hard against Intel that surely begins to present models of new processors to compete with this range of AMD products .
MODEL | CORES | THREADS | CLOCK SPEED MAX BOOST/ BASE (GHZ) | Smart Prefetch Cache | TDP | COOLER | SEP (€) |
Ryzen 7 2700X | 8 | 16 | 4.3/3.7 | 20MB | 105W | Wraith Prism (LED) | $329.99 |
Ryzen 7 2700 | 8 | 16 | 4.1/3.2 | 20MB | 65W | Wraith Spire (LED) | $297.33 |
Ryzen 5 2600X | 6 | 12 | 4.2/3.6 | 19MB | 95W | Wraith Spire | $229.99 |
Ryzen 5 2600 | 6 | 12 | 3.9/3.4 | 19MB | 65W | Wraith Stealth | $199 |
The new 2nd generation AMD Ryzen processors can already be found in the stores and since the starting prices are better than the first generation models, compared to their Intel rivals you have to keep them in mind if we are going to set up a new team. In addition, according to the words of AMD, the AM4 socket will continue to be used until at least 2020, so we have certain updates guaranteed.
