Thomson continues to expand its family of media players, and this week we’re introducing the new Thomson Streaming Box 245 with Google TV, designed for streaming and featuring a generous 32 GB of storage.
This box runs Google TV 12 as its operating system and is Netflix-certified for up to 4K resolution if you have that option subscribed to. It includes built-in Chromecast for easily casting content to your TV, as well as support for Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital audio.
Its SoC is the Quad-Core Amlogic S905Y5-B, manufactured on a 12 nm process, featuring ARM Cortex-A55 processors with 20K DMIPS and an ARM Mali-G31 MP2 iGPU. Regarding video, it supports native decoding of the H.265, AVS2, VP9, and AV1 codecs at resolutions up to 4K@120fps, along with HLG and HDR10 technologies.
It features 2 GB of DDR4 RAM and 32 GB of eMMC storage.
For wireless connectivity, it features Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, and ports including an SPDIF, a USB 2.0, a USB-C port for power, a 10/100 Ethernet port, and an HDMI 2.1 video output. The remote control with a microphone features a dedicated button for switching user profiles and shortcuts to Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video.
