We already have for sale in AliExpress the first TV-Box that includes the new Penta Core Amlogic S928X processor, the UGOOS AM8.
A Box that undoubtedly stands out for the presence of the new Amlogic S928X chip, highly anticipated for its support for Dolby Audio/Dolby Vision and which we hope to see in review soon. This new SOC looks like it could be behind the Rockchip RK3588 in power, although ahead of the Rockchip RK3568. We also have in the UGOOS AM8 a renewed metal box where its two external antennas stand out, although the general design is the usual one for this brand.
We are surprised to find Android 11 as the operating system, a somewhat outdated version compared to the competition that is already using Android 13. As usual in this brand we have updates via OTA and in the software we find functions to activate the superuser, Samba server, autostart and many more utilities.
UGOOS AM8 Specifications
The UGOOS AM8 integrates the new Penta Core Amlogic S928X processor manufactured in 12nm. A chip with a high-performance ARM Cortex-A76 core accompanied by 4 ARM Cortex-A55 cores. The iGPU we have in this Amlogic is an ARM-G57 MC2 with support for OpenGL ES 3.2, Vulkan 1.2 and OpenCL 2.0. It also includes support for HDR10+, HDR10, HLG, AV1, VP9, H.265, AVS3…. We also have a 3.2 TOPS AI accelerator with support for TensorFlow and Caffe.
At the moment, we have a single version available with 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 32 GB of eMMc storage memory. A micro SD card reader is also included.
Other outstanding features
Wireless connectivity is guaranteed by two external antennas and an AP6276P chip that provides Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. The connectors included are a Gigabit network port, SPDIF digital audio output, three USB 3.0, one USB Type-C OTG 2.0, 3.5mm audio jack and an HDMI 2.1a video output capable of outputting up to resolutions of 8K video at 60fps.
For power, we have a 12V / 1.67A USB Type-C port and a Bluetooth remote control with microphone and airmouse function is delivered with the box.
