VONTAR X3 another Smart Box with Amlogic S905X3 SoC

New generic Smart Box that we find in the great bazaar of Aliexpress equipped with the recent Amlogic S905X3 Quad Core SoC under the name of VONTAR X3. A TV-Box that basically draws attention for its external design, for its decoration and design since at the hardware level it does not stand out with respect to those of its price range. Fortunately it comes with 4GB of RAM that seems to be becoming the norm for the last boxes we see, something that guarantees us fluidity when it comes to moving heavy apps that need a lot of RAM.

SoC, RAM and storage

The VONTAR X3 Smart TV Box includes the new AMlogic S905X3 SoC, a Quad Core manufactured in 12nm, which reaches up to 1.9 GHz speed and integrates a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU, a SoC that you can see in detail in our detailed review. This SoC has 4 ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores and also an NPU for iA. The VPU is an Amlogic Video Engine 10 with HDR Dolby Vision optional, HDR10 +, HDR10, HLG and PRIME HDR among others. This Box is available in versions with 4 GB of DDR3 RAM and 32/64/128GB of eMMc storage memory that can be expanded from the included microSD card reader.

Other specifications

At the wireless connectivity level we find Wifi aC Dual Band and Bluetooth 4.1 for all available versions. The connectors included in the plastic box are the usual ones found in most boxes, a USB 2.0 port, another USB 3.0, a 10/100 Ethernet connector, an analog AV interface and an HDMI 2.1 video output. The operating system is Android 9.0 and a basic IR remote control is included.

Price and availability

  • The VONTAR X3 Smart Box can be purchased on Aliexpress.com only for $49.99 (€46.03) with free shipping in its version with 4/32GB.

This has a 32bit 905X3 processor. Is that a disadvantage or limitation for the near future?
Saw it can’t be upgraded to Android 10. Is there a short explanation why?

Processor is 64bit, Android apps are 32bit.
No limitation for media player.
Don’t count with an update in a low cost box.
Better buy something tested:

I would upgrade my VONTOR 3x But he went to sleep. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it? you only see the lamb red and the one off but nothing more.

Try to find a firmware, user our search, ask to your shop.
If you can’t restore it open a dispute.

I just installed Cx File Explorer, and it’s clean!
Any idea how to upgrade to Android 10?
and thanks again.

You can’t update to Android 10.
Have a nice day.

I bought the 128GB version with the G10 remote control.
I’ll give you my opinion after use:
A nice piece of shit!
The G10 is slow and cannot be adjusted, and the box would at some point give you the unpleasant surprise of not being able to access the downloaded files, which would gradually block the 128GB of memory without you being able to do anything!
So a scam!
I advise against it!

I don’t test G10 remote, can be bad for sure, use a classic mouse is more easy.
Install X-Plore to access to your file system.

I’m going to test it, I thought about it, but didn’t do it!
Thank you.
