We tested the Gemini PDA in the MWC 2018 in its final version

This year at MWC 2018 we have been able to test the interesting micro laptop from Planet Computer called Gemini PDA, a device that integrates a complete keyboard that can be closed over the screen. A project that had a successful financing campaign in Indiegogo and that is now in the distribution phase among the users that have financed it in the final version that we were able to test.

The Gemini PDA as we see has an attractive PSION design made by Martin Riddiford. With a size of only 171 x 80 x 13 mm and a weight of 320 g, in one side we have a 5.7″ touch screen with resolution 2880 × 1440 pixels that gives us a factor of 18:9 and a full QWERTY keyboard, on the other that closes on the screen as a shell, behind the lid we have a series of LEDs that serve to communicate with other Gemini PDA. The small mechanical keyboard can be ordered with the keys in the distribution that we want, as you can see in the image above we have a keyboard with Spanish distribution with Ñ and in the last one in English.

As operating system in the Gemini PDA we have Android customized to work with the applications in landscape mode, we even have custom designed applications to work on this device, as we see in the lower area we have a customizable shortcut bar. In the future this hardware will be compatible with Linux in Dual OS thanks to the collaboration of Mediatek.

  • The Gemini PDA can be purchased on Indiegogo for $499 in its Wi-Fi version and $599 in its 4G version.
