X96 Air a new TV-Box in presale with the expected S905X3 SoC


We already have a new Box in Aliexpress.com based on the AMlogic S905X3 SoC, a processor that we still waiting for in spite of the announcements on . This new Box presented is called X96 Air and will be available in various configurations of RAM and storage. Highlight among its hardware its connectivity options with an HDMI 2.1 although it sins in its RAM that is of the DDR3 type. We are already looking forward to thoroughly testing this new SoC, which among other new features improves its video engine as it includes the same VPU from the powerful SoC S922X.

SoC, RAM and storage

The X96 Air TV Box includes the new AMlogic S905X3 SoC, a Quad Core manufactured in 12nm that reaches 1.9 GHz and integrates a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU. This SoC has 4 Cortex-A55 CPU cores, a Cortex-M4 processor and also an NPU for iA. The VPU is an Amlogic Video Engine 10 with Dolby Vision optional HDR, HDR10 +, HDR10, HLG and PRIME HDR support. This Smart Box is available in versions with 2/4 GB of DDR3 RAM and 16/32/64 GB of eMMc storage memory that can be expanded from the included microSD card reader.

Other specifications

This Smart Box includes wireless connectivity level Wifi aC and Bluetooth 4.1 for models with 4GB of RAM and WiFi b/g/n for the model with 2GB. In the connectors included in the plastic box are two USB 2.0 ports, another USB 3.0, analog audio and video port, a 10/100 Ethernet connector, SPDIF audio output and an HDMI 2.1 video output. The operating system is Android 9.0 and an IR remote control with key cloning function is included although it is also available with a microphone remote control to use voice functions.

Would be interested in a review. Mostly regarding the stability of the Stock Android (for browsing, YT and such general apps) and also including the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi performance.
