Among the cheapest Android Box with Android today, we find the recent X96Q Android 14 which carries inside the low-end SoC Rockchip RK3518.
A Box that for only 17.49 € includes a new processor that is nothing but a cut version of the Rockchip RK3528, so we will be in front of a very basic processor, so the RK3518 does not seem a highly recommended option. This is a typical box oriented to local video playback or with apps that do not need certificates, as it does not have any. If we want quality in paid streaming services such as Netflix, we have to go to other certified Android Boxes.
Its hardware is modest, something normal considering its price, and its operating system is Android 14 with AirPlay and Miracast compatibility to broadcast content wirelessly from any compatible mobile or tablet. The only positive point we found is that at least comes with Wi-Fi 6.
X96Q Android 14 Specifications
This small Android TV-Box includes a simple low-end Rockchip RK3518 processor. This Chip is a Quad Core with ARM Cortex-A53 processors reaching 1.42 Ghz and a modest ARM MALI-450 MP2 GPU of which we don’t know its clock speed.
For RAM we have a single version available with 2 GB DDR3 and for storage we find 16 GB eMMc. We also have a micro SD card reader on one side from where we can expand the storage memory.
Other notable features
In the field of wireless connectivity, we have this time Wi-Fi 6 with internal antenna and Bluetooth 5.0. As connectors, we find in its small plastic box a USB 2.0 port, another USB 3.0, 10/100 network connector, 3.5 mm jack with analog A/V output, extension for the infrared sensor and an HDMI 2.0 output port that allows us to output video at resolutions up to 4K@60fps.
Delivered with this X96Q Box a remote control with infrared microphone, power supply and HDMI cable to start using this Box just by taking it out of the box and connecting it to our TV.
