The new Xiaomi 17 and Pro/Pro Max, smartphones that offer high performance and some surprising features, have already been presented in China.
Undoubtedly Xiaomi is one of the most powerful representatives of Android smartphones today and each presentation of its new generation marks a design line. In this case they are the first to release the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, also in their Pro versions they surprise us with a secondary rear screen that we can use in several ways. The rest of the specifications are not far behind and we have a set of high level in all aspects.
If we are thinking of changing our phone and we have a comfortable budget, these are certainly some terminals to take into account for the future.
Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, different range tops
The new Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max will undoubtedly set a trend with its rear screen “Magic Back Screen“. Each of the models offers us an OLED panel of different size the Pro we have 6.3″ and in the Pro Max version we have 6.85″, both with 1.5 K 120 Hz resolution and brightness up to 3200 nits peak. The rear screen integrated in the camera island can be used for notifications and full apps, even as a retro handheld console with an official case for it.
As engine in all phones in this range we have the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a processor with new Oryon cores up to 4.6 GHz, with high efficiency and power thanks to its 3 nm process. We have 12/16 GB of RAM and storage up to 1 TB of high speed UFS 4.0,
The cameras offer us a pack with 50 MP rear main sensor with the collaboration of Leica and a 32 MP front camera for selfies . In the Pro version we have a 6300 mAh battery and in the Pro Max we have 7500 mAh. We have USB-C 3.2 port with fast charging 100 W, the measurements for the Pro are 151.1 x 71.8 x 8.06 mm and 192 g, in the Pro Max version we have 162.9 x 77.6 x 8.0 mm and weight of 219 g.

- For now these phones are only available in China and there is still to see them in their western version, possibly with launch at MWC 2026 in Barcelona. The price will be much higher.
Xiaomi 17, compact and powerful
If we are looking for something more classic the basic Xiaomi 17 is a perfect alternative, this version does not have the secondary rear screen, but still offers the same high-end specifications. We have the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, 120 Hz OLED display with the same 1.5K resolution (2670 x 1200) and identical 50 MP Leica camera pack.
As battery we have 7,000 mAh, which is basically the same as in the Pro Max model, since we do not have the consumption of the rear screen. We will have 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256/512 GB UFS 4.0 storage. The measurements are 151.1 x 71.8 x 8.0 mm and the weight is 191 grams.
