The new Xiaomi 17 is now available, a high-end device that offers compact dimensions for today’s standards.
This new Xiaomi device has cutting-edge features as usual, including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5processor that will give us maximum performance. In terms of photography, it stands out for its 50 MP Leica main camera and 50 MP front camera. The body of this phone offers IP68protection against dust and is submersible up to 1.5 meters. The screen is also a highlight, with a 6.3″ AMOLED display compatible with Dolby Vision and brightness up to 3500 nits.
The default operating system is Android 16 with the HyperOS 3 layer and the brand’s usual somewhat intrusive customization layer. The dimensions are 151.1 x 71.8 x 8.1 mm and it weighs 191 g.
Xiaomi 17 specifications
The SoC chosen for this new device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (SM8850) Octa Core manufactured in3nm. Inside this chip, we find a configuration of two clusters, the fastest with two Prime Cores reaching 4.6 GHz and a second with six Performance Cores reaching 3.6 GHz. The GPU is an Adreno 840, which promises an increase in performance and efficiency of around 25% compared to the previous generation.
The RAM integrated into the board is 12/16 GB LPDDR5X, which allows us to load multiple apps or browser tabs. For storage, we have options with256/512 GB and 1 TB UFS 4.1.
Screen and other features
The Xiaomi 17’sscreen isa 6.3″ LTPO AMOLED with a resolution of 1220 x 2656 pixels, peak brightness of 3500 nits, refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, Dolby Vision compatibility, and Xiaomi Shield Glass protection. In terms of photography, it has a 50 MP Leica Summilux main rear camera with a Light Fusion 950 sensor, supported by a 50 MP wide-angle lens, another 50 MP telephoto lens, and an LED flash, while the front has a 50 MP camera.
For audio, there aretwo Dolby Atmos-compatiblespeakers and two noise-canceling microphones. The battery is 6330 mAh with Hyper Charge fast charging with a 100 W cable and wireless charging up to 50 W. For connectivity, we have Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, 5-in-1 GPS, NFC, and a 4G/5G modem with Dual SIM and eSIM support. As for interfaces, there is a single USB-C 3.2 port for data, charging, and video.
