Xiaomi today introduced a new Xiaomi Mi Box 4 SE focused entirely on the Chinese market and that we will never see in western. A Box with hardware cut to minimum and oriented to play Chinese streaming content. As we will see the hardware is much lower than the Xiaomi Mi Box S that is currently on sale globally and of course it will not have the streaming DRM certificates it needs for Netflix or other Western services.
SoC, RAM and storage
The new TV box Xiaomi Mi Box 4 SE as we see has a somewhat different design, it seems larger and does not have the line in the middle. It has a Quad Core SoC with CPU cores ARM Cortex-A7 and a GPU Mali-400 MP2, could be an Allwinner H3 or a Rockchip RK3229. Integrated into the board we only have 1 GB of DDR3 RAM and 4 GB of eMMc storage memory that surely can not be extended. A configuration as we see very basic only useful for basic streaming services.
Other specifications
The Xiaomi Mi Box 4 SE includes b/g/n Wifi and Bluetooth, at the connector level we always have a USB 2.0 port, HDMI 1.4 video output for maximum 1080p content and AV jack for analog audio or video. The operating system of series is Android but it has the custom layer of Xiaomi that presents all the contents in its wall, the artificial intelligence of the cloud of Xiaomi adapts what is shown.
Price and availability
- Xiaomi Mi Box SE will be for sale in China for 189 Yuan which equals € 24 ($ 33), you have to be careful because they will try to strain them on Aliexpress as if they were Xiaomi Mi Box S.
