After much waiting and some canceled releases we have available for the successful TV-Box Xiaomi Mi Box International the new system Android TV Oreo based on Android 8. A version that is installed automatically via OTA. With it we have a complete change in the environment, interesting improvements in the multimedia playback, controls for HDR mode and compatibility with old televisions.

The new Android TV Oreo system completely changes the design of the user environment, now we have a first row of applications that we can access quickly, in the rest of the rows we have direct access to the streaming media.
We have My list where to personalize specific content and then lists of channels that represent streaming apps like Netflix, we can customize the list of apps and channels alike.
In addition to these changes in the environment we finally have RGB mode for Sony, Phillips and other old TVs, so we will avoid compatibility problems and green screen.
We also have HDMI Self-adaptation mode to adjust the screen refresh automatically which will avoid the Judder effect that can be very annoying in the film travellings.
In addition to these changes we now have specific controls for HDMI-CEC and also possibility to control the HDR modes, something that is appreciated to have fine adjustments in our device.
Another positive point is the change of Kernel that goes from version 3 to 4.9.54 something that seemed impossible in AMlogic SoC’s, maybe forced in the migration to Oreo, where the latest security patches are also integrated.
