A few days ago we saw the first unboxing of the Xiaomi Mi TV Stick in its MDZ-24-AA version, a device that as we could see is focused to maximum resolution FullHD and lowered quite a lot the expectations we had on it. Now this Stick has received the certification in Google Play with the name of “aquaman” and mounting the Amlogic S805Y SoC, a product focused only on 1080p resolutions and that will allow to adjust the final price.
This TV-Stick will also feature the Chromecast function, also indicated compatible streaming systems such as Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, HBO and others, if only up to FullHD quality. The remote control can see the buttons dedicated to launch Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, the operating system will be Android TV 9 and will have Dolby audio certificate.
SoC, RAM and storage
If the data is confirmed the Xiaomi Mi TV Stick will only allow FHD resolutions, it will have an AMlogic S805Y SoC that reaches 1.2GHz a processor lower than S905X-L in the current Xiaomi Mi Box S, a Quad Core made with ARM Cortex-A53 processors and an ARM Mali-450 GPU. With this SoC the RAM is reduced to the maximum because is not needed to play 4K content, and we will be left with 1 GB something too basic that will limit multitasking and 8 GB eMMc storage.
In Geekbench some tests of the Xiaomi Mi TV Stick have already been done with reference “MiTV-AESP0″ and we have some results in line with what is expected from the processor. It is a little better in multiprocessing as it is a much more current product but a little weak in mono core because of its limited speed at only 1.2 GHz, possibly not to heat up in such a small Stick.
In the field of wireless connectivity we have Wi-Fi aC Dual Band and Bluetooth 4.2. In terms of connectors given its size we have only one HDMI 2.0 connector and a micro USB port for power. A Bluetooth remote control with microphone for Google Assistant is included.
