Black Shark is the gaming smartphone that has just presented the Xiaomi brand, another sector where this giant tries to open the market and where for now there is not much competition apart from Razer. It is a phone with quite powerful specifications that has a complement to add a physical control system, a product for now very focused on the Chinese market where the ecosystem of games in the Xiaomi store will have a special section for this device.
SoC, RAM and storage
At the hardware level the Xiaomi Black Shark includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC an Octa Core manufactured in 10nm that reaches 2.8 GHz and has the powerful Adreno 630 GPU assisted by a dedicated chip Qualcomm Pixelworks to improve the image and protect the user’s view. This mobile has a liquid cooling system to keep temperatures at bay in long gaming sessions. There are two versions that integrate 6 or 8 GB of LPDDR4 RAM, in addition to 64 or 128 GB of very fast UFS 2.1 storage memory, expandable by microSD card.
Screen and other features
The screen is a 5.99″ IPS with a resolution of FullHD+ and has 18:9 format, we have a double rear camera with a 20 MP sensor and a secondary one of 12 MP and in the front we have another 20 MP that will give an optimal quality if we want to stream, also has facial unlocking. In terms of connectivity we have microSD card reader in the Dual SIM slot, a USB Type-C port, front fingerprint reader with gesture detection, two front speakers and three microphones one of them front. The battery of the phone is 4000 mAh with Quick Charge 3.0, the phone has a weight of 6.7 oz and comes with Android 8 with the Xiaomi MIUI layer.
Separately we also have an extra controller that can be attached to the side of the phone, in the front we have an analog joystick and an action button, in the back we have two more buttons. Within this command we have a 340 mAh battery to not drain the mobile’s own battery.
Price and availability
- Xiaomi Black Shark in China for the 6 GB model will be priced at $450, the 8 GB model would equal $520, the remote has an approximate price of $35
