We already have the new Xiaomi TV Stick 4K for sale, the direct heir to the previous Xiaomi TV Stick that left us with a bad taste in our mouths due to its weak specifications.
The new Xiaomi TV Stick 4K is very based on the Amlogic S905Y4 SoC and has very similar features to the Realme 4K Smart Google TV Stick. The Xiaomi TV Stick 4K includes 2 GB of RAM and the expansion connectors are very limited, which is normal, since it is a completely streaming-oriented device certified by Google.
As the operating system of this new Xiaomi stick we have Android TV 11 certified by Google with Chromecast, it is approved by Netflix to play in 4K UHD and the rest of streaming services. As always, we will carry out our usual review soon.
SoC, RAM and storage of the Xiaomi TV Stick 4K
The new Xiaomi TV Stick 4K includes an AMlogic S905Y4 processor, a Quad Core with ARM Cortex-A35 processors and an ARM Mali-G31 MP2 GPU that reaches 850 Mhz. This SoC includes decoding of the new AV1 codec, support for video output up to 4K@60fps resolutions, and compatibility with HDR 10, HDR10+, HLG, and Dolby Vision technologies.
The RAM memory that we have soldered on the board is 2 GB DDR4, while for storage we only have 8 GB eMMc, so we will be able to install only a few apps and that cannot be expanded, since we do not have a memory card reader.
Other specifications
For wireless connectivity, we have Dual Band Wi-Fi aC and Bluetooth 5.0. The connectors, as we can see, are very limited, due to the fact that we only have a micro USB 2.0 OTG port for power and an HDMI 2.0a video connector. This hardware allows us to reproduce 4K @ 60fps compatible with Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and DTS HD. It also includes support for AV1 codec thanks to the new Amlogic processor included.
The operating system is Android TV 11 updated directly by Xiaomi. The included remote control is Bluetooth, and we have buttons for direct access to Netflix and Prime Video, in addition to integrating a microphone for voice functions with its corresponding shortcut key for the Google Assistant.
