Today we came across a new Chinese TV box on AliExpress—this time equipped with the Amlogic S905Y5 quad-core processor—called the Z8 Pro Y5. It’s an Android box that doesn’t particularly stand out, especially considering its price and limited or nonexistent support in every respect.
This box features the classic rectangular design and a small front LED panel. It stands out for its 6-nm Amlogic S905Y5 processor, which is an improvement over its predecessor, the Amlogic S905Y4. This represents an upgrade for the budget-friendly S905Y processor series, moving from ARM Cortex-A53 cores to ARM Cortex-A55 cores—and it’s a much better option than the Allwinner H313 and Rockchip RK3518.
In terms of wireless connectivity, it features Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. The included ports are two USB 2.0 ports, an SPDIF digital audio output, a 10/100 Ethernet port, a 3.5 mm jack with analog audio and video output, and a high-resolution HDMI 2.0 video output.
The operating system is Android TV 14, and an infrared remote control with a microphone is included so you can control the device right out of the box.
