With the name Thomson Streaming Box Plus arrives to the European market, one of the best Android TV-Box of the moment for its performance, the Onn. 4K Pro Streaming Device.
As we saw in the review of the Onn. 4K Pro Streaming Device this is a device that offers very good features for its price, especially to play paid streaming thanks to its GOOGLE TV 12 system. Inside its small box we find an AMlogic S905X4-B SoC, with 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage and a good number of ports. In addition, we have a Bluetooth remote control with microphone that we can locate with the front button of the box and that emits a sound.
Inside we have the same 2 long-range microphones that allow us to give orders to the device and use Google Assistant by voice without using the remote. In this European version, the square design is maintained, but a rough plastic has changed the upper fabric.
Specifications of the Thomson Streaming Box Plus
This interesting Smart Box includes the AMlogic S905X4-B SoC manufactured in 12 nm. This chip is a Quad Core with low-power ARM Cortex-A55 processors reaching 2 GHz top speed and integrates a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU. The VPU includes 4K@60fps, Dolby Vision, HDR, HDR10 and HLG support.
To load a good number of apps, we have 3 GB of RAM. For storage, we count this time with 32 GB of memory, this allows to load numerous heavy applications.
Other notable features
In terms of wireless connectivity, this small Box features Wifi 6 with internal antenna and Bluetooth 5.0. The connectors included on the back of its small box are a USB 3.0 port, Ethernet 10 /100 and an HDMI 2.1 video output that allows 4K@60 resolution. In addition, it supports Dolby Atmos and Vision, ensuring the best quality for all streaming.
As usual, HDMI cable and power supply are included. It also offers us a Bluetooth remote control with microphone, internal speaker for paging and several shortcut keys for some popular streaming services.
Price and retail availability
- The new Thomson Streaming Box Plus is not yet available in Europe, but we will soon have it in stores, we expect it to be close to the $48.99 it costs in the US.
