Today we found a new Chinese TV box on AliExpress, which this time surprises us by featuring a SoC from a brand we’ve never even heard of: the Quad Core H150 processor. It’s a complete mystery in terms of performance and origin, which makes us reluctant to recommend purchasing this box.
Inside the Android Box H5 PLUS is this new H150 chip, a quad-core processor with ARM Cortex-A55 cores and an ARM Mali-G310 GPU—though we don’t know how many cores the GPU has. We also don’t know the clock speeds of its processors or iGPU; we can only see that it appears to be compatible with HDR10, and, as expected, it won’t have any kind of certification to access paid streaming platforms in HD or higher quality. It also includes 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage, expandable via microSD card.
In terms of wireless connectivity, it features Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4. The included ports are two USB 2.0 ports, a 10/100 Ethernet port, a 3.5 mm jack with analog audio and video output, a high-resolution HDMI 2.0 video output, and a connector for an IR sensor extension cable.
According to the advertising, the operating system is Android TV 15, and an infrared remote control with a microphone is included so you can control the device right out of the box. As always, keep in mind that a media player at this price point will likely not receive any support or operating system updates.
