Qualcomm and Google have announced a strategic partnership with the launch of the new Snapdragon X Series processor platform, optimized for Googlebook.
This is an entirely new category of laptops developed from the ground up for Google’s productivity tools and artificial intelligence models. Essentially, they represent the next evolution of Chromebooks. Built on an efficient 4-nanometer processing architecture, these processors adapt the Qualcomm Oryon core architecture to a fanless thermal design, ensuring 100% silent operation and offering battery life that comfortably exceeds 20 hours of continuous use.
As we’ve seen, MediaTek has also joined this range of devices with its own processors featuring 3-nanometer technology, which promises even greater efficiency.
Snapdragon X Series for Googlebook
These new SoCs from Qualcomm stand out for integrating the latest-generation Qualcomm Hexagon NPU, capable of exceeding 45 TOPS (trillion operations per second) of processing power dedicated exclusively to AI. This engine enables the local, latency-free execution of models such as Gemini Nano and accelerates tasks such as text processing, real-time speech transcription, contextual photo editing, and advanced on-device security features.
The Snapdragon X family for Googlebook will range from affordable options designed for education and light professional use. It features multiple high-performance multi-core CPU configurations with integrated Adreno graphics supporting multiple displays at 4K resolution at 120Hz.
In terms of connectivity, the platform incorporates FastConnect 7800 communication modules, ensuring native support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and configuration options with Sub-6/mmWave 5G modems for consistent connectivity anywhere.
Availability and Price
The first Googlebooks powered by Snapdragon X Series processors will hit the market from leading manufacturers such as Acer, ASUS, HP, Lenovo, and Samsung in the coming weeks. We’ll have to wait and see if they’re actually positioned in the budget segment or, as is typical with Qualcomm, if their prices skyrocket.
