The new ANBERNIC RG DDS has been unveiled as an upgrade to the recent ANBERNIC RG DDS with more power and screens that are a perfect fit for the 3DS.
The new ANBERNIC retains the classic Nintendo 3DS design but offers a solid set of interesting specs. A standout feature is the Qualcomm Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 processor, which will provide enough power for many games. It’s a clamshell-style device with a 4.7-inch 5:3 screen on top and a 4-inch 4:3 screen on the bottom. The bottom screen is touch-sensitive and compatible with the included stylus, ensuring maximum compatibility with 3DS games.
Another selling point highlighted is the inclusion of an AI button, but many users are already eager to remap it for other functions.
ANBERNIC RG DDS, the new 3DS
This handheld console features the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 processor, manufactured on a 4-nm process. This SoC integrates one GoldPlus core running at 2.8 GHz, four Gold cores at 2.57 GHz, and three low-power Silver cores running at 1.9 GHz. Inside its ergonomic body is an active fan to keep temperatures under control. On the graphics side, it features an Adreno A22 GPU that allows you to run any game at a good quality.
Displays and System
On the top, there’s a 4.7-inch 5:3 IPS display with a resolution of 1200×720 and a brightness of 500 nits. The bottom display is a 4-inch 4:3 IPS screen with a resolution of 960×720 and a brightness of 500 nits. In total, this gives us exactly three times the resolution of an N3DS, ensuring compatibility with Nintendo 3DS games. The top screen integrates two speakers for stereo audio, features vibration, and includes a built-in stylus.
In terms of controls, in addition to the D-pad and buttons, there are two analog sticks, allowing us to play many more titles than just those for the 3DS. The built-in battery is 6000 mAh. The operating system is Android, but we’ll surely be able to run a Linux distribution like Rocknix on it in the future.
