As you already know just a few days ago, ARM presented its new ARM Cortex-X1 and Cortex-A78 CPU cores for the new generations of SoC’s that we will see at the end of this 2020 or the beginning of 2021. As always, greats like Qualcomm will be the first to use these cores in their top-of-the-range SoCs, although this time, if the leaks are true, AMD would also join this exclusive group with its AMD Ryzen C7 SoC.
This would be a SoC destined for next-generation smartphones since it would include the new Cortex-X1 and Cortex-A78 and a powerful AMD Radeon RDNA 2 mobile GPU that would exceed the Adreno 650 of the Snapdragon 865 by 45%. We find it hard to believe this leak, but with the policy of restrictions that we are seeing at the technological level lately, the jump of AMD to the mobile sector could make some sense.
Specifications
The AMD Ryzen C7 would be an Octa Core manufactured in 5nm with 2 custom ARM Cortex-X1 based processors capable of reaching 3.0Ghz + 2 custom ARM Cortex-A78 processors with a maximum speed of 2.6Ghz + 4 ARM Cortex-A55 processors that would reach 2.0Ghz. The GPU would be an Radeon RDNA 2 Mobile with 4 CU that would reach 700 Mhz with support for ray-tracing, variable rate shading and 2K @ 44 Hz displays with HDR10 +.
We would also have, if we listen to this alleged leak, support for LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, GPS and it would include a Mediatek 5G modem.
Availability
- There is no news about the availability of the SOC AMD Ryzen C7 that we doubt its real existence.
