Amlogic presents Android 9 Pie for its new platform based on the S905X SoC

Amlogic one of the leaders in the manufacture of SoC for multimedia devices has presented during this IBC2018 its new reference platform for TV-Boxes 1G4K based on the well-known SoC Quad Core S905X and that works under Android 9 Pie. It is a reference design verified by Google and made available to the industry as a basis to design new TV-Boxes in record time. A new piece of news that connects with the one we presented yesterday explaining Google’s plans for Android TV based on Android P.

This new platform, 1G4K, also as the name suggests is optimized to work with only 1GB of RAM, which will significantly lower production costs, thanks to improvements in memory management and performance added by Google. It also offers support for 4K video output at 60fps, compatibility with Netflix 4K and direct updates from Google thanks to Project Treble which will greatly benefit users of official devices.

  • The new TV-Boxes manufactured with reference design Amlogic 1G4K and SoC S905X are expected to reach the market by the end of this same 2018 as this new design has already been made available to manufacturers. Without a doubt, very good news we have today from the IBC fair.
