Anbernic surprises everyone with the official announcement of the new Anbernic RG SP 2026, an evolution of its previous foldable systems that’s even more portable and retro.
Unlike the previous RG34XX SP version, this model features a more compact design with a chassis that’s 10% thinner. This drastically reduces the screen bezels and completely eliminates the analog joysticks to focus on an ultra-portable, pocket-sized format. Without a doubt, this is a full-fledged commitment to emulating 16-bit games, leaving 3D emulation behind.
Additionally, it comes in metallic finishes in Pearl Blue (turquoise), Pearl Pink (pink), silver, and black, topped off with an elegant acrylic plate featuring the logo on the lid.

On the technical side, the new Anbernic RG SP 2026 features a 3.4-inch IPS display with a resolution of 720 × 480 pixels and a native 3:2 aspect ratio, which is ideal for scaling the entire Game Boy Advance game library without black bars or distortion.
Under the hood, the proven Allwinner H700 processor (4x Cortex-A53 at 1.5 GHz) alongside the Mali-G31 MP2 GPU, running on the Linux operating system—a platform with more than enough power to handle 8- and 16-bit consoles with ease.
Controls and Other Specifications
Regarding the control panel, the manufacturer claims to have updated 90% of the molds and dome switches to provide a much quieter, more precise, and more comfortable tactile response. The sleek design does away with joysticks and incorporates a Hall-effect magnetic sensor in the hinge to pause and put the game into sleep mode when the lid is closed.
The new RG SP retains key connectivity features such as the dual-band Wi-Fi module and Bluetooth 4.2 for multiplayer and achievements on RetroAchievements. It features dual microSD card slots, a Mini HDMI output to connect the device to a TV, and a USB-C charging port.
