We found today a new CarPlay Box called CarlinKit Tbox Ambient, now in a version with more power and more modern hardware.
This new Android Auto Box offers 30% more power with the new Snapdragon 680 that replaces the previous Snapdragon 660. As a system we have Android 13, easily upgradable from OTA in the future. An attractive option for the powerful hardware that mounts, ideal for updating the one that brings our car, it is only necessary to have compatibility with the CarPlay system. In addition, we have GPS support and 4G modem connection if we mount our own micro SIM card.
The implementation is Plug and Play, we only need to connect a USB-C cable. We can also insert a SIM card to use standalone data and a micro SD card with our multimedia files.

Inside the CarlinKit Tbox Ambient we find a low power SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 (SM6225) manufactured in 6 nm. This is a chip that integrates 8 ARM Kyro 265 processors capable of reaching 2.4 Ghz. In the graphics section we have an Adreno 610 GPU that offers maximum compatibility with all kinds of apps.
In this Android Auto Box we have a single version for sale with 8 GB of RAM LPDDR4X and internal storage of 128 GB of the eMMc type. For external storage we have available a slot for micro SD cards where to include multimedia files.
Other notable features
In terms of wireless connectivity we have an integrated 4G modem (buy European modem version) to use a standalone SIM card. We can share our data connection using the dual-band Wifi 5 system that brings integrated and also has Bluetooth 4.0. As connectors we only have a USB-C port to activate the Android Auto system on our car screen.
We also find inside the CarlinKit a triple satellite GPS, so we will have a fast and reliable positioning. As an extra point to note that it has all DRM certificates to view streaming platforms like Netflix and others.
For this system to work our Car must be compatible with the CarPlay system, usually found in SEAT, Cupra, Honda, Nissan, Ford, Ford, Audio, Peugeot, Toyota, Skoda, VW, Volvo, Hyundai and Chevrolet brands among others. It is not compatible with BMW cars for example.
