According to 9to5google, a new version of the popular Chromecast 4K launched in 2020 with improvements in different aspects is already on the doorstep.
The main updates in the Chromecast 4K 2024 would be focused, on the one hand, on its remote control, which would keep the same design, but would add a new user-programmable key. On the other hand, and already moving to its interior, everything seems to indicate that we would have a new AMlogic S905X5 SoC that would replace the AMlogic S905D3 of the original model and that would be released with the new Google dongle.
Specifications of the Chromecast 4K 2024
The AMlogic S905X5 is a new, more efficient processor thanks to its 6 nm manufacturing, with new Cortex-A510 CPU cores and a more powerful and faster ARM Mali-G310 V5 GPU. We will also have decoding for AV1, h.266, eARC, VRR and also QMS (Quick Media Switching) to avoid black image when switching between screen refreshes.
About the rest of the specifications, we have no leaks, although we expect its internal memory to reach at least 16 GB, since the 8 GB of the Chromecast 4K have given many problems, even Google has released an update to solve the space problems and wireless connectivity is updated to Wi-Fi 6.
As always, long term updates would be guaranteed in the long run, and we would not be surprised if the new Chromecast 4K 20024 arrives with Android 14. As always, we will do a Review of this new Chromecast as soon as it is released.
Price and availability
- Everything seems to indicate that this new Chromecast 4K 20024 update would be launched during this Google I/O 2024 to be held next May 14 at the same price of the original, $49.99 in the US.
