Compilation of custom firmwares for Mecool K and M8S models with Netflix and HBO in HD

Today we want to arrange a bit the catalog of custom firmwares for the TV-Box Mecool KI Pro, KIII Pro, M8S Pro W, M8S Pro L, M8S Pro + and M8S Pro, models that are quite widespread among our community and that with these firmware improve significantly. Among the improvements highlights the support for Netflix FullHD for all models and support of HBO HD, that  devices makes them an economical solution to see this type of streaming services in one device.

GENERAL CONCEPTS

In all these TV-Box we have several custom firmware alternatives that allow us to use the device in different ways, depending on the chosen firmware we have the possibility to watch Netflix or HBO in HD among other services, we can have Android TV or Android classic. Keep in mind for now HBO Nordic V.3 does not work on Android TV system.

The first thing we have to check is if our device has Google Widevine L1 DRM licenses that will give us access to watch Netflix or HBO in HD, for this we install and run the DRM Info app. Normally all these TV-Box come with this DRM system but in some of its early versions that was not the case. If we have problems with the DRM licenses or we have lost them we can try to use this recovery app, without this certificate the payment streams will not work.

M8S Pro L

The MECOOL M8S PRO L TV-Box. This model integrates the Amlogic S912 SoC with eight ARM Cortex-A53 processors and a Mali-T820MP3 GPU capable of easily playing next generation games and 4K UHD video. It also has 3GB of DDR3 RAM, 16GB internal eMMC storage, dual band wifi with internal antenna and Bluetooth 4.1. At the connectivity level we find a 10/100 Ethernet connector, microSD card reader, HDMI 2.0a video output, AV output and finally two USB 2.0 ports.   • WARNING: This model has several versions that are identified with the sticker of its bottom, LS, LQ, LB, LP … it is possible that they are not compatible among them at firmware level, we recommend not to update if is not necessary. The only 100% compatible version is the LS that we have tested in the review.

M8S Pro W

This model Mecool M8S PRO W that integrates the SoC of Amlogic S905W, a Quad Core with ARM Cortex-A53 processors and a MALI-450mp5 GPU. It has 2GB of RAM, 16GB of eMMc storage memory, WiFi b / g / n with internal antenna and Bluetooth 4.0. Connectivity level includes 2 USB 2.0 ports, microSD card reader, HDMI 2.0b port, 10/100 network connector, SPDIF digital audio output and finally an analog port for audio and video. The TV-Box M8S Pro Plus is a low cost model that has the SoC Amlogic S905X that we can use with KODI, streaming and several apps, as is logical we are talking about a basic model and it does not have the same quality of components as the brands of first row. We have Wifi b/g/n without integrated Bluetooth, 10/100 Ethernet and two USB 2.0 ports.

The TV-Box  M8S PRO media player integrates the Amlogic S912 SoC in its version with 3GB of DDR4 RAM, 16GB of internal eMMc storage, dual band wifi with internal antenna and Bluetooth 4.1 (Chip QCA9377). At the connectivity level we find a Gigabit Ethernet connector, microSD card reader, HDMI 2.0a video output, AV output and finally two USB 2.0 ports. Some of versions have Netflix FullHD options and others no, depends if have installed the DRM Widevine L1.

KIII Pro

The TV-Box KIII PRO is a more powerful version of the previous TV-Box that also includes dual HD tuner for satellite and DVB-T (DVB-T, DVB-T2, DVB-S2), this device supports cccam servers. Why is there no satellite button stored in the device just like the rest of the devices and does the company leave it without updates and does it accept hidden channels stream and how can I update it via rum the last version of the device thank you reply and help
