With RAM and other chips skyrocketing in price, Chinese mini-PC manufacturers are getting creative to keep costs down and are reviving chips like the Intel i5-8257U, which is featured in the “new” ERVPES M1 mini-PC.
A quad-core chip released in late 2019, but one that may be sufficient if you’re not looking for a computer to mine Bitcoin, edit 4K video, or play cutting-edge 3D games at a snail’s pace.
Otherwise, at least we have the option to easily and relatively inexpensively expand the RAM and storage, since it has two RAM slots and two connectors for installing a pair of SSDs.
ERVPES M1 Specifications
This mini PC features the low-power Intel Core i5-8257U processor, a quad-core x86 with a base frequency of 1.4 GHz, a turbo frequency of 3.90 GHz, and an Intel Iris UHD 645 iGPU with 48 execution units.
We offer versions with 8/16 GB of DDR4 RAM, featuring two SO-DIMM slots expandable up to 32 GB. For storage, there are two SSD connectors: one M.2 2280 slot with a pre-installed 256 or 512 GB drive, and another M.2 2242 slot.
In terms of networking, it features Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and a 2.5G Ethernet port.
