If you found a disk format media player and Amlogic S905X4 SoC missing, the Smart Box G96Max has come to fill your inner void.
The G96Max, except for its design, does not present novelties within its range compared to other Chinese Boxes that we have seen so far. The operating system is the new Android 11, it comes with 4 GB of RAM and as you already know its powerful Amlogic S905x4 SoC, from which you can see our comparison against other current Chips, it is capable of natively playing video files encoded up to the recent AV1. A Box suitable as a multimedia player with KODI or similar, for games, emulators and many apps, although for paid streaming it is not recommended as it does not have certificates and does not allow the reproduction of these platforms in their maximum video quality.
SoC, RAM and storage
The Smart Box G96Max includes the AMlogic S905X4 SoC, a Quad Core manufactured in 12nm with low consumption ARM Cortex-A55 processors that theoretically reach 2 GHz speed and that integrates a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU. The VPU of this Chip includes HDR, HDR10 and HLG support.
This Smart Box includes 4 GB of DDR3 RAM and 32/64/128 GB of eMMc storage memory that we can expand thanks to the presence of a micro SD card reader.
In the field of wireless connectivity, this Box integrates Wifi aC Dual Band 2 × 2 and Bluetooth 4.2 with internal antenna. The connectors included in the plastic box are a USB 2.0 port, another USB 3.0, 2.5 mm audio jack, SPDIF digital audio output, Gigabit Ethernet and an HDMI 2.1 video output compatible with resolutions up to 8K @ 24fps.
As usual, HDMI cable, power supply and a basic IR remote control are included to be able to use this Smart Box from the first moment, although we have other options with different remote controls when buying it.
